In 2001, SSG was founded by Woody Itson, a former bicycle freestyle champion and world record holder. Before SSG, Itson directed some of the most successful bicycle stunt programs in the world. Those teams included Hutch, Diamond Back, Schwinn, GT, and Giant Bicycles. The team is based in Riverside County, California.
