About: Josh Frazier, also known as, DJ iChomp, and formally known as just DJ Chomp; has quickly become one of the most well known, and one of the most well rounded DJ’s in the greater Charlotte area. In the beginning of 2001, iChomp began to sharpen his DJing skills in the beautiful port city of Wilmington, NC. During this period of time, iChomp was solely focused on electronic music, especially in the genre of Drum N Bass. The beginning was tough. iChomp was learning something that no one around him knew anything about. Because of this, is much of why iChomps’ style is so much different from those who he now affiliates with. During his time as an electronic music DJ, iChomp was continuously involved in the local & state music scene. Achievements that were made during his residency in Wilmington, NC include that of performing at the Annual North Carolina Drum N Bass Convention, “Strength” from 2004-2007. In addition to this, iChomp made guest appearanc
es on different internet radio broadcasts, as well as made guest appearances in such local nightclubs as Club Fusion, Blind Willies, Charlie Brownz, & Gracie’s 121. While still in Wilmington, word started to spread about his mixing style, gathering him several gigs in such cities as Raleigh, Charlotte, Myrtle Beach, & Carolina Beach.

In the fall of 2005, iChomp packed his bags, and moved to the Queen City; Charlotte, NC. This was done to extend the search of greater opportunities to further his career as a Professional DJ. About one year into his relocation to Charlotte, he was offered a job working with one of the cities most well-known & popular venues, and a leading promotion company in the electronic music field. These were working for The Forum, and Sugar Society.

During his employment with these companies, he was introduced to a variety of new music that he had not heard before. This music was Mashups, and Dance Rock. With this discovery, iChomp decided to expand his knowledge-base into these new genres; reinventing his image. In this reinvention is when he formally expanded his previous DJ name of Chomp, to the current label of iChomp. Not six months later, the owners of The Forum, and Sugar Society joined together to create, and open the venue known as Alley Cat, which he automatically became involved in with as well. But it doesn’t stop there; this year (2008), iChomp teamed up Carolina Nightlife and is starting to build his foundation in the greater Charlotte area.

Alley Cat, a Rock N Roll/Pop Nightclub; was the home for iChomp on Thursdays. Thursdays at Alley Cat are College Night, and always has a packed dance floor, and stage. Sharing this residency with him was, DJ FRENZY, who is a well known, and very respected DJ, and Producer. As of May 2008, this is still his current residency. When iChomp is representing Alley Cat, you will likely hear the poppy sounds of Hip Hop, & Mashups, with a touch of Rock N Roll, and Break beats. This venue regularly hits capacity, and usually has final numbers over a 1000 people in one, four hour period.

Sugar Society offered a whole different level entertainment. The events held by Sugar Society allowed iChomp to perform at numerous venues, and events; and work with all of the biggest names within the Electronic Music Industry. These include such names as Tommy Sunshine, Paul Van Dyk, DJ Icey, & Baby Anne; just to name a few. When iChomp is representing Sugar Society, it is likely that he will be playing Dance Rock, Electro, or Drum N Bass.

Carolina Nightlife chose iChomp as one of the two DJ’s featured at the 2008 “Endless Summer” Pool Party Tour. Alongside of fellow DJ, Jimmy Hype; iChomp & Jimmy Hype tour the UNC-Charlotte college area apartments. Hosting parties all over the university area apartments, iChomp displayed a full plethora of styles, and genres for local college students. This exposure has given iChomps fans, and others time to meet iChomp, and socialize with him while he works. Before the tour even got half way through, several interested parties wanting to hear more iChomp approached him and other affiliates of his. One of these is the local hit radio station of KISS 95.1.

2008, so far, has been a very productive year for DJ iChomp. With the success of his residency at Alley Cat, the pool party tour, and becoming the face of Sugar Society; iChomps career as a professional DJ had launched. As he has his own style in music, he also has his own style in appearance. He takes pride in the fact that he stands out among the crowd, and isn’t afraid to be himself. Whether its sporting a new unique hairstyle, rocking a huge gold rope chain, or showing off one of his unique shirts, hats, belts, or shoes; people always know when iChomp has entered the building. The only question now, is, who & where this up & coming star is going to pop up next?
